A spice made from the dried, ripe fruit of the herb Celery also called Ajwan.  It is used lightly so as not to dominate in flavor. It is used in sauces, salads, meats, and soups.

Tips to use of celery seeds:

Celery flavor with the addition of a few seeds in Vegetable dishes and sauces will give good flavor. Homemade bread or bread rolls. Use it to both decorate and flavor the bread.

Add to soups and stews. Try them sprinkled over thick soup such as chowder.

Add to fish dishes. For strong flavored fish, celery seeds can make an interesting, tasty addition to the marinade or poaching sauce.

Celery seed in pickles, mustard, and chutneys. Toss in a few seeds when preparing the pickles or chutney.

Health Benefits of Celery Seed:

Celery is used to treat joint pain (rheumatism), gout, hysteria, nervousness, headache, weight loss due to malnutrition, loss of appetite, and exhaustion.

Celery is also to promote relaxation and sleep; to kill bacteria in the urinary tract; as a digestive aid and for regulating bowel movements; to start menstruation; to control intestinal gas (flatulence); to increase sexual desire; to reduce the flow of breast milk; for stimulating glands; treating menstrual discomfort; and for “blood purification.”
